Happy Game Day SPURS Day
OUR SPURS host the Bucks tonight at 7:30 and just might have a 6'8" small forward. Pop will figure it out. Today at 5pm you can win tix for SPURS/Celtics on 12/15...................GO SPURS GO!
One week from tonight the special 12/12/12 Concert--get details on our main page. Eric Clapton AND Roger Waters should be reason enough though.
Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Izzy Stradlin and international film star and musician Johnny Depp joined Aerosmith on stage during their headlining show Monday night (December 3) in Los Angeles.
Depp stepped in on guitar for the vintage Fleetwood Mac blues jam "Stop Messin' Around" and The Beatles "Come Together", while Stradlin came up for Aerosmith's "Mama Kin", the second song of the band's encore at the Staples Center.
Stradlin and Guns singer Axl Rose were the only original members of the group to skip its induction into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame last April.
Although he has kept a low public profile since leaving Guns 20 years ago, Stradlin has released no less than 11 solo studio albums.
My Texans are 11-1, playoff bound, and I am not completely thrilled. We have so many injuries on defense(now add McCain), its hard to paint the face and waive the flag. OK, I'm waiving the flag but it is hard to paint the face. The Texans are deep but deep enough to go into Foxboro and come out 12-1? To face Brady/Welker with so many second string linebackers and DBs, whew. Lets hope Schaub/Foster/Johnson can keep Brady on the sideline with time management domination. The Texans running game needs 250 yards to chew the clock adequately.. It's possible, it's going to happen. I'll pick Texans by 7.
It was on this day in 1980 that Led Zeppelin announced they would not continue as a band following the death of drummer John Bonham. On this day 1980 one of the greatest Rock n Roll outfits of all time disbanded. 32 years ago to the day-the Mighty Led Zeppelin came to an understandable halt. Last night they hung out with Dave. Yes, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, and Jimmy Page were on the Late Show with David Letterman. You would think after being together(with Dave) all weekend and all receiving the Kennedy Center Honors that it would be a great interview. It was not. There were a few funny and cool moments. If you missed it, here it is.
I hope you had a good weekend. If you saw RUSH on Friday night, I know you did. So many surprises. What is better than a Neil Peart drum solo? Three Neil Peart solos thats what! The bold move on this night was making Clockwork Angels the muscular showpiece of the evening. But first, the very cool approach of the opening set loaded with deep cuts they had not played in years. Tracks like The Pass, The Big Money, and especially Grand Designs(see vid). Geddy Lee can still soar, Alex Lifeson can control the room, and Neil Peart a percussion beast with the biggest kit in Rock n Roll. The stage beautifully set with a brain specimen, victrola, an old flying machine, and the coolest working popcorn machine. Just perfect. RUSH refuses to ride quietly into the nostalgia sunset. The stage really came to life for the Clockwork Angels set. Fireworks, steam, pyro, fantastic fantasy videos on moving screens rocked the more than handful of new tracks. The music got more intense with a string section and Alex Lifeson launching every song with a crunchy riff. It was pure RUSH utopia for this hardcore fan and living proof that this band is one whose chops get better with time. Red Sector A, YYZ, The Spirit of Radio, Tom Sawyer, and parts 1, 2 , and 7 of 2112 wrapped the perfect Evening with RUSH.........Can't Stop Thinking Big!
HAPPY RUSH DAY
Last shot at freebies today at 2:30! Tonight An Evening With RUSH at the ATT Center. There will be no opening band, two extended sets with RUSH-a half time intermission will be provided. But don't dilly dally, cool/funny videos to intro and outro. Thanks to Joe Anthony and Lou Roney for turning Texas on to the best band ever. I am particularly looking forward to Alex's solos on "Clockwork Angels" and "The Garden"but this is a show not to be missed. All three members are at the top of their respective game.
As Neil states........."The Future As Seen From The Past"..........They have arrived hot, sweaty, sliding into third, as a working, touring band. The dedication and inspiration remain strong, combined with hard-won experience and knowledge-acquired over 20 studio albums, and thousands of live shows.
Those were Neil's words and in my words...RUSH is gonna ROCK. They are the best band ever and individually the best at their craft. One more factor to consider,we are catching them at the tail end of this tour. They filmed the Dallas show this week and the final concert(this leg) is Sunday in Houston. WE ARE PERFECT. The always present tightness will be even tighter. RUSH are together, grew up together and had this dream and they're funny and they're family guys. The relationships and struggles are in the music. The music that has meant so much to me for so many years. It is alive tonight. I remember the older brother(Reed) of my friend down the street(Scott) playing that first RUSH album for us the first time. Finding My Way....WHOAAH YEAAAAHHH! I have stayed friends with the music of RUSH ever since. RUSH is gonna ROCK. I anxiously await hearing the new material live for the first time tonight. I anxiously await hearing the older material-the older friends to reminisce. The posters on my walls as a kid came to life when the needle hit the vinyl. The genius lyrics of Neil Peart opened the travel gates of imagination. From kid to young man to college student to young adult and to whatever it is at this juncture. Here we go. All the worlds a stage. It is going to be all good. They have nothing to prove-they are just going to do what they're going to do. And I for one am perfectly fine with that. In fact, I insist. Wanna see what longevity is all about? Come see RUSH tonight...KZEP CONCERT EVENT....ATT CENTER 7:30....belly full of beer...popcorn......hey baby it's a quarter to eight....even though your going through hell..just keep on going..let the demons dwell...just wish them well...............the arrow flies when you dream the hours tick away...the cells tick away...the Watchmaker keeps to his schemes...the hours tick away....They tick away.
See you there!
Game Day SPURS Day, this road trips final exam is a good one. OUR SPURS wrap it with the Heat this evening at 7 in Miami. A pretty easy win last night against the Magic, "nice goin" to Manu and Tim especially. OUR SPURS have won the first 5 games of a 6 game road trip. Their record away from home is a league best 9-1. Next effort at the ATT Center is Saturday with the Grizzlies(assuming the roof is still attached-see below). GO SPURS GO!
HAPPY RUSH EVE!
The steampunks, the musical scientists............RUSH......KZEP Concert Event tomorrow night.....ATT Center.....win tix at 230..............don't miss the world's biggest cult band...........ALEX................GEDDY....................NEIL.......SAN ANTONIO FAVORITES......CLOCKWORK ANGELS...............THE WATCHMAKER.............BIG HORN..........BRAINSTORM......TOPHORN......POPCORN!
I also want to re-post this information from yesterday-we can help make it happen:
With about one week left to let fans' voices be heard for the first time on who deserves to get into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame next year, RUSH has pulled in nearly a quarter of the votes at 24.3%, followed by Deep Purple at 17.1%. Heart is third with 12.4% of the votes cast.
Although the public vote could influence the outcome of who is inducted and who isn't, it will most likely be used only as a tie-breaker. The top five acts will comprise a "fan's ballot" that will count as one of the more than 600 ballots that determine the Class Of 2013. The results will be announced in mid-December.
RUSH has been eligible for the honor since 1999, 25 years after the release of the band's self-titled debut album.
The April 18, 2013 event is set for Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, marking the first time the ceremony will be held in the city since 1993. HBO will tape the show for broadcast at a later date.
