HAPPY THANKSGIVING 2012

Happy Thanksgiving Eve, OUR SPURS tonight in Boston, begin a 6 game road swing.  Jackson and Leonard are out, we be hurting at the small forward slot.  OUR Big 3 to step up..................GO SPURS GO!  The homecoming game is December 1st against Memphis-you can be there for free...listen today at 5.

RG3 and the Skins are gonna beat your Boys tomorrow.  On the upside, the other Texas team....MY TEXANS to beat the Lions(early game manana-1130).

I hope you have a very Happy and Safe Thanksgiving!  I hope you get plenty to eat and drink.  Catch some quality time with family and friends.  The perfect way to begin the festivites tonight is with Queensryche's Geoff Tate.  He will rock the outdoor stage at Backstage Live Night Club.  The Voice of QR always provides a special evening of hard Rock n Roll, be there.  Be sure to catch 3 fer Madness today at 420 for a special Ryche and Roll edition.

A pretty embarrassing loss for OUR SPURS last night to the Clippers(again).  Also bad.............losing Jackson for a month(broken pinkie).  Prior to this NBA season, I was most worried about the Lakers and Thunder.  Even though the season is young, I am now most worried about the Clippers and Grizzlies.  Next up for OUR SPURS, a few on the road(6) beginning with the Celtics tomorrow 6:30.  GO SPURS GO!

Some more live RNR history of the Seattle variety this week.  Tomorrow night...Geoff Tate's Queensryche to rock the outdoor stage at Backstage Live (Houston/Cherry St.s).  Come celebrate one of the biggest party nights of the year with one of the biggest voices ever.  I could listen to Geoff sing the friggin telephone book and have a good time.  You can expect to hear solo material and QR favorites.  He might even bust out a saxophone.  He is THE voice of Queensryche and let me just add....Geoff Tate is one of the nicest guys in RNR.  I hope he calls or comes by tomorrow and I bet he does.  Incidentally, the new Tate solo album King's and Thieves is very good.  From turmoil do good songs spring forth.  well, something like that...check this one out:

Happy Thanksgiving Week!

Your Cowboys and My Texans got it done yesterday.  They both needed OT to beat crummy teams but it is "W".  Now, OUR SPURS to get a little revenge on the Clippers tonight GO SPURS GO!  

The idea of an Eddie Vedder Ukulele concert seemed intriguing.  I still had to be persuaded into actually attending.  I'm glad I did.  I love Rock n Roll history and Eddie brought it and on a few different levels this past Friday night.  He played a song that he wrote on the way to the gig.  That is Rock n Roll history.  Austin did not get that one nor Dallas.  Of course it helps if the historical moment is a good one and indeed "5:55 Sunset Drive" was a highlight.  The song inspired by a bit of San Antonio gridlock at sunset, just north of town. Vedder also made reference to his home state of Washington legalizing marijuana with a tale of his plans upon the tours completion.  But when he brought a soldier from the crowd to the stage that was a real spine tingling Rock n Roll and USA moment.  This show was full of them, much to the delight of the sold out crowd at the Lila Cockrell Theater.  He played some Pearl Jam and he hit his solo library, it was a sing along campfire kinda night.  The ironic "Last Kiss" was the crowd favorite, "Gone" was mine.  At one point in the show he got word that his(and Pearl Jam's) sound guy had just become a father.  So, the next song was  dedicated to a 15 minute old new person(Lucy Pearl).  A lot of cool moments musically and during the in between song banter.  A few songs on ukulele, few on acoustic guitar, one on organ, few on electric, and even one acapella(and without amplification) with show opener Glen Hassard. I still have to go back though to the song he wrote while being stuck in traffic("Sunset Drive").  He is snarled in a traffic jam, running late, and then looks out the back of his tour bus and sees a gorgeous Texas sunset.  A few short hours later, he is singing all about it.  That very night.  That is Rock n Roll history.  Maybe the song will be released.  Probably not. You had to be there.  That is Rock n Roll history.  That is ukulele Rock n Roll history.

I really wanted that one....Damnit!  So, the Knicks are stillll undefeated.  OUR SPURS had it and let it go with 7:14 left.  On the upside,  Carmelo Anthony was contained.  They hit some big 3's and we missed a lot of 3's.  I know it is early in the season, I just really wanted OUR SPURS to be the ones to knock off the Knicks.  Bring on the Nuggets, tomorrow ATT Center 7:30.....GO SPURS GO!

In the meantime,  hockey action and dollar beer with OUR SA RAMPAGE and KZEP 104.5 tonight at 7:30.  Ready Set Rampage!
