A… trying to get the baby to go to sleep.
You know how babies always seem to fall asleep in the car? Well, it doesn't take long for new parents to figure that trick out . . . a lot of them end up driving around the block until
their crying infant finally falls asleep.
According to a study by a chain of British baby stores called Mothercare, the average new parent drives 1,300 miles a year trying to get their baby to go to sleep.
That sounds like a lot, but it averages out to about 25 miles a week.
Assuming they drive a minivan, which averages 17 miles per gallon, new parents are spending about $275 a year on gas just to put their baby to bed.
New dads are the ones who are sent out to drive the baby around most often. The average new dad puts in about 2,000 miles a year. The average new mom drives about 860.
Q… If you enjoy this luxury your more than likely working more hours because…. What is it?
A… A smart phone.
Owning a smartphone is sometimes thought to be a distraction from work, but a new British study has found that owning a smartphone or tablet can add up to two hours to your
workday.
By giving you access to emails at all times, smartphones and tablets give people no
excuse to not get work done.
Researchers found that people with access to email on mobile devices worked, on average,
460 more hours a year than those who don’t.
The average working day is between nine and 10 hours – people with smartphones and
tablets are working an extra two hours responding to or sending work emails, or
making work calls. (Telegraph)
